I really enjoy capturing engagements as a Baltimore wedding photographer, partially because I love getting to know each of my couples before their big day! It is such a fun experience getting to explore together while taking amazing photos and seeing you fall more in love throughout a few hours together! And that is exactly how Ari and Briana’s Downtown Frederick Engagement Session went down!
If you aren’t familiar with it, Frederick is a historic city in western Maryland. It’s located a little north of Clarksburg and about an hour north of Washington DC. And is totally worth the drive!
The vibe of Downtown Frederick is very old world, with tons of red brick, ironwork, and climbing ivy. The older architecture has so much character which translates so well to photos. Early on in our session, we got Briana and Ari some of those cute coffee shop window pictures And I loved this little Jack Skellington on the coffee shop windows! It was so perfect for a fun fall session and a great memory for their season of engagement.
One of the things that makes shooting in Downtown Frederick so interesting is the sheer variety of options for backdrops. On the ground, we get alleyways and those big shade trees for some small town rom-com vibes. A little higher up, we caught that lovely horizon with all the historic buildings. (Did you catch that little church? So darling.)
If you can believe it, these beautiful images all came from the top of a parking garage! I loved the clean lines and the sky at sunset. What a great memory for this couple!
If you’re looking to shoot your own engagements, take a page out of Ari and Briana’s look book. Not only did they look casually classy, but the light colors really set them apart in every backdrop we found. Contrasting beautifully with the reds and greens of Downtown Frederick. I just thought it was awesome how their outfits pleasantly draw the eye in each shot.
It is always so fun to work with couples and try to share their story through photographs! And maybe sharing this Downtown Frederick session has given you some inspo for your engagement photos too. If you’re ready to book with a photographer in Frederick, Baltimore, or anywhere around East Maryland, I’m your girl. Drop me a line!
