A wedding is really about the union of two people, their connection and commitment to a new life together. As a Baltimore wedding photographer, I was impressed with Hannah and John’s intimate DC War Memorial Wedding on the National Mall. It was simple, personal and absolutely breathe taking. With such a small crowd, I was impressed with how much love and support was present. Sometimes, all you need is a celebration with those you love the most.
About an hour’s drive southwest of downtown Baltimore, the white marble of the District of Columbia War Memorial stands in honor of those who died in World War I. The surrounding tall trees and verdant lawns of the National Mall create a special feeling of peace. I was surprised by how private it was there, despite being public grounds!
Hannah and John’s wedding was cool, simple, and romantic. These two were total naturals! I loved their choice of white, from the dress, to John’s suit, to their florals. Hannah’s accessories were simple but effective, and the whole wedding felt summery and fresh.
I especially loved their fun sunglasses, which gave us a glimpse into how fun and comfortable these two are together!
Altogether, the simplicity of the ceremony really directed the focus to Hannah and John. Their relationship is so tender; it was a real joy to watch.
Of course, the National Mall has its own unique perks as a wedding venue. This “front lawn of America” hosts over 15 unique memorials, not including statues and water features. There are recreational activities, concerts, and tours happening in all seasons. (It’s a great option for a Baltimore elopement!)
If you’d like to have your own War Memorial Wedding, reserve it by filling out a Special Use Permit Application and delivering or mailing it to the National Mall and Memorial Parks Permit division. You’ll be assigned personnel from National Mall and Memorial Parks to approve your wedding specifics, including the number of guests, décor, and cost. Weddings are also available at other memorials on the Mall.
A special thanks to Hannah and John for letting me be a part of your ceremony.
I hope you enjoyed this beautiful War Memorial wedding as much as I did! Remember, if you’re looking for your own Baltimore wedding photographer, I’d love to capture these important moments for you. Drop me a line!
