The newborn stage will be gone before you know it, and with time you will long for those days. So preserving this milestone in a way that fits your needs is so important for you and your family. That is why I offer both in-home lifestyle and a studio newborn session. Read below to figure out which one is right for you and your family!
In-home sessions offer a lifestyle approach to documenting what life is like for your family right now with a new baby. These are less posed and focus on natural connections and moments. There are so many benefits to having an in-home lifestyle session for your newborn photos. First of all, you don’t even have to leave your home! I’ll come to you, eliminating travel with your newborn and young kids. This type of session is perfect if you want to include pets, too!
Speaking of older siblings, if you have other little ones they’re usually most comfortable in their own space. Allowing for beautifully candid moments to be captured more naturally. Documenting exactly what life looks like in the day-to-day is such a precious thing. In addition, I love photographing nurseries and all the little details you have planned for your baby!
At in-home shoots we’ll get photos of your newborn swaddled solo, with each parent and any siblings. The most common places to take photos are in your living room, primary bedroom and the nursery. If you’re looking for stylized photos of baby in various positions in a basket, unclothed, etc., I recommend a studio session.
Studio sessions also focus on capturing feeling, just with a stylized, posed approach. The studio is a great choice if you don’t feel like cleaning and making your home photo ready! At my studio, conveniently located in Historic Ellicott City, you’ll have access to my collection of dresses for mom as well as wraps, baskets and other props for baby. Based on your preferences I’ll style several setups for you which can be just for baby or for the whole family. I offer the option for a “home” and a “backdrop”portrait” set. The home set allows as to document lifestyle feeling photos while also getting more stylized shots of baby, too. The portrait set is a plain, neutral color backdrop where we’ll document you standing and/or sitting in front of.
My studio portraits include natural colors and other earthy elements, making them timeless and luxurious. Due to the size of the studio, we can accommodate families of 5 or less and unfortunately pets aren’t permitted in the studio.
