Let’s answer all your burning questions about maternity photos!! As a Baltimore family photographer, I am here to help you feel confident before you book that maternity session! Here are four of my most-asked questions and their answers.
So first, when should you schedule your maternity photos? They are best when that bump starts bumping, which for many women is after six months of pregnancy! We could do photos all the way up to nine months, but it might be uncomfortable to stand or walk for an hour so late in your pregnancy. So, I would recommend doing your maternity whenever you’re comfortable in your third trimester.
It’s a delicate balance between comfort and style. Many women opt for comfortable, flowing gowns that show off the baby bump! Show off the curves with sweetheart or v-necklines. Florals, pastels, and neutrals are popular for maternity shoots, but a dramatic look can also be fun!
How do you pose for maternity photos? Typically they have a lot of side profiles, and we love to see hands supporting that tummy. Anything we can do to show off your amazing baby!
Maternity photos also include romantic poses with your partner, and can even include the rest of the family with siblings and pets. To add some fun to your poses, consider bringing props like a baby onesie, blocks with the baby’s name, or ultrasound photos.
So how much are maternity photos? I normally do these as part of family portraits, but, just like all photos, the final cost will depend on the time spent during the session and the amount of images you receive! For my packages, I offer an hour-long session, including two outfits and 75 edited images for $750+. You can check out my complete services right here!
Hopefully reading these FAQs and their answers helps you feel confident as you’re booking your maternity session!
