I get to be part of some of the best parties as a Baltimore wedding photographer. And this Locust Point wedding did not disappoint! Victoria and John’s wedding day was filled with the sweetest sentiments, a sacred ceremony and the best Valentine colors and vibes! If nothing else, this wedding needs to be added to your inspo board! But, I really want to walk you through what a wedding day looks like with me as your Baltimore wedding photographer. I take such pride in each of my couples and capturing the moments that mean most to you! So, sit back, get to know me, and enjoy the party and vibes that this wedding was!
I offer all of my couples engagement photos before their wedding day. There are a few reasons for this. First of all, I want to get to know you from behind the lens! It’s one thing to talk over the phone or coffee, but its a whole other story to get to capture you! In addition, this helps you become a bit more comfortable with my style of posing, creating candid moments and basically being your photographer.
The morning of your wedding day there is a lot going on. Hair, makeup, tracking down something to fuel you for the day, you name it! My first priority at a venue I have never shot at before, like this Locust Point wedding, is to get to know the area. I usually will show up a little earlier than usual to scout out where we will have your bridal portraits, get to know the layout, and of course find you!
Once we meet up I will let you get ready as I photograph your detail shots. This may require tracking down a few things like wedding invitations, rings and other details. Don’t worry, I will send you a list of everything so you can get it altogether a few days before. This way there is no stress for you and I get to capture those meaningful details.
Afterwards I always try to get a few images of you and your bridesmaids getting ready. Zipping up dresses, putting on shoes, final touches of makeup, champagne cheers, and so much more! Then once I get all of your getting ready photos I will zip over to the groom’s suite to do basically the same thing!
This is a tradition that I love! No matter who you are doing first looks with (your mom, dad, sisters, bridesmaids, fiance, even your dog!) we will fit it into the timeline and capture it! Victoria opted to have a first look with bridesmaids and friends in her bridal suite, which was such a moment of sisterhood, I loved every minute of it! Then her first look with John was as she was walking down the aisle at their ceremony.
Victoria and John had multiple venues for their Locust Point wedding. From getting ready, to their Church ceremony, and finally their reception. When moving between venues I always try to be ahead of the curve. I want to get to the next location before everyone else so I can photograph details like welcome signs, wedding programs, reserved seating and everything else you works so hard on and planned out perfectly!
I have photographed dozens of wedding ceremonies, within a variety of different religions, cultural traditions, and non-religious celebrations. From Catholic Masses to Jewish ketubah signings, Hindu rituals to intimate secular vow exchanges, I approach every ceremony with deep respect and sensitivity. I understand that this is one of the most meaningful moments of your day (and of your life) and I take great care to document it quietly and unobtrusively, honoring the flow and tone of your service while capturing the genuine emotions shared between you, your partner, and your loved ones.
This is also a part of your wedding day that I recommend having a second shooter at. Victoria and John had a second shooter for their ceremony which meant we were able to get so many different angles, and ultimately deliver a larger gallery. You’ll see here how we were able to get both classic and iconic images of Victoria walking down the aisle:
Every wedding timeline is a little different, but most of my couples opt to have their bridal portraits and bridal party pictures taken right after their ceremony. This is an ideal time because most of your wedding guests are on their way to the cocktail hour so you can hang back with your family and bridal party for photos. Then we will snap a few bridal portraits, and head over to your cocktail hour.
When it comes to the location of your wedding portraits, it depends a lot on your wedding timeline. I suggest at the very least an hour, but preferably two hours to get all that you want! If we don’t have a ton of time we will stay close to your venues. And don’t get me wrong, staying close to your venue can create such authentic and beautiful wedding photos! However, if we have more time we can travel a bit to a local park or green space or really wherever!
Remember how I like to get to venues a little early? If I can’t make it to your reception early to get detail photos, then I will send my second shooter to do it for me! Victoria and John had a black and white checkered floor, disco balls, a vintage style cake, gorgeous florals and so much more. We were able to document it all before the party started. And then capture the many memories of the night as the party started!
Another detail from Victoria and John’s day was the photo booth at their reception. It was such a fun addition to their photography package and I would recommend it to literally any couple! Even if you are planning a more sophisticated wedding day, you reception is meant to be a party. A photo booth is fun and interactive and adds even more memories to your final gallery!
This Locust Point wedding was one for the books! It was honestly pretty iconic and one of the best parties I have been to to-date. If you are looking for a Baltimore wedding photographer who will give you this experience and capture every detail of your wedding day, then I’m your girl! Drop me a line!
