While I have photographed dozens of newborn family photos in my studio in Ellicott City, I have such a soft spot for in home newborn photos! There is just something special about being in your own space, capturing memories as they would unfold like any other day. From the details I get to photograph in your home, to the natural smiles and candid moments. Here are all the reasons I love photographing newborn family photos at home as a Baltimore photographer.

Why Have Newborn Family Photos at Home?

This isn’t the first time I have raved about the benefits of having newborn photos at home! I love how comfortable the session is for mom and baby, getting to photograph the nursery you poured your heart into decorating and how low key the experience is. However, when you have more than one child, newborn family photos at home take on a whole different meaning! Not only are you getting all the comfort and style of your home, but you are also saving your sanity! Your other children can run around the backyard, be napping, playing in their space and so on, all while we capture your newborn photos!

In addition to saving your sanity, I get to capture more precious moments between your children. In a studio I can give your children toys or an activity to do for candid photos. While it is cute, it lacks the nostalgia that those same games give in an at home session. At home your kiddos are more comfortable being themselves and playing the way they always do! The way that you want to remember.

How Does It Work?

First things first, we need to get you on the books! When scheduling your newborn photos with me, mention how you want to have your photos taken in your home. I am always down the photograph in your home, but I may have a few questions before getting there. I of course will need your address and any info for parking, security and so on. I’ll also want to know if you want me to bring some of my newborn props like baskets, florals, swaddles, ect. I may also ask if you have pets, if you want to include them and who else will be included in your session, like a grandparent.

Then, the day of your newborn photos I will come to your home with my photography equipment and any requested props ready to photograph it all! I’ll definitely want to see your nursery as well as any other spaces you want to photograph in. I may ask to open blinds for natural light, move a blanket here or there, and make minor adjustments to get the right angles. If you have spaces in your house that you want off limits, just let me know and I will respect your space! Same goes for any rules, like no shoes in the house, masks around baby and so on. This is your space and I am simply here to document!
