My team of Baltimore wedding photographers headed to a Citizens Ballroom wedding for Alexis and Grady just a few weeks ago! I love this couple, and I loved their unique wedding style. It was different from what my couples typically go for, but it worked so well with my editing style! Let me share more with you about their experience and this gorgeous venue.

About Citizens Ballroom

Downtown Frederick, MD is home to Citizens Ballroom, a bank-turned-wedding-venue originally constructed in 1908. This venue is stunning, full of beautifully showcased marble, sharp architecture, and huge windows. Another fun feature is the old bank vault, which you can actually enter and use as part of your event!

It’s very “old money” in aesthetic, of course, but the whites and blacks of the building really allow you to play with any color palette you’d like for your wedding. Alexis and Grady were drawn to soft florals and a romantic blend of periwinkle, lavender, and light pink.

Citizens Ballroom Amenities

Beyond the gorgeous spaces of the bank, Citizens Ballroom prides itself on offering more than the industry standard. With your booking, you have the full venue, including the dressing suite and all furnishings, from 8am to midnight. Expect tables and chairs for up to 200 guests. Catering is not included at Citizens Ballroom, but any licensed vendors and caterers are welcome here (and you can bring your own alcohol)!

Parisian Summer Gala Wedding Photos

Alexis and Grady’s vision can be described as “elevated Parisian summer gala.” I usually attract couples with darker/moodier palettes, but I was pleasantly surprised on how I brought out the mood of this pastel palette.

Two photos I especially liked are the matching photos of the bridal party walking in a straight line and a similar one of the groomsmen. My second photographer and I split up to walk with each wedding party so we had no idea we were going to take such similar photos, but it turned out so fun when we did! Both were candids, too!

Alexis & Grady at Citizens Ballroom

This couple kept the day traditional by skipping the first look and heading right into a beautiful Catholic ceremony. Afterward, we enjoyed outdoor portraits and champagne. Another favorite moment I have with them is taking the late-night flatlay photo, at Alexis’s request! The remnants of cake and drinks and party favors come together in a single photo showing what a great night they shared.
